At the start of 2023, I stepped out of a chapter that had drained my life of its peace and its substance. Out of that hollow space, I carried the scars of my experience—yet it was those very marks that kindled an urgent hunger to cultivate beauty in both my inner and outer worlds. Nudes in the Garden, the fourth piece in this five-part series, is the physical evidence of that shift: a work born from a total fragmentation of my world, yet rebuilt through the quiet, transformative clarity that now defines it.

Every element is intentional—each piece of paper a pillar of my healing, fortifying the entire composition. The tangled flowers, hand-cut from the pages of Vogue, echo the grief and chaos that linger in the wake of trauma. At the base, pink and orange daisies speak to our duality: our fragility and our resilience. Bricks, sourced from Dior ads in Harper’s Bazaar, rise into an unfinished wall—a heavy instinct to remain guarded, yet a refusal to be completely walled in.

The willow tree bows, not in defeat, but in solemn recognition of the past, while a caterpillar begins its transition—a quiet emblem of the hard-won perspective that follows a total shift in one’s world. The figures, adorned with the quiet grace of timeless earrings, embody a dignity that is now untouchable; their grace is no longer a mask, but an inherent truth. At the heart of it all, a single red rose: a symbol of serenity and of hope in full bloom—the final offering that emerged as I laid the last touches on this piece. Nudes in the Garden stands as a sanctuary for this peace—a testament that the act of healing is, in itself, a return to beauty.
