The concept for Nudes in the Jungle took shape during the summer of 2021 following a major health diagnosis. Confined to my studio floor as I processed new physical limitations of my illness, I began sketching figures embedded in dense tropical environments, bodies moving unbothered through heavy foliage.

This piece pushed my signature paper painting technique further than before. Beginning with targeted acrylic paint, I hand-cut and layered thousands of publication fragments from fashion editorial archives, building the composition piece by piece. Surrounding three nude figures with thick jungle growth balanced human vulnerability against nature's steady presence.​​

What started as a private act of comfort became the anchor for the Nudes in Nature series: a celebration of human strength and the restorative presence of the natural world.
